BCSIR gives handrubs free of cost

Science and technology minister Yeafes Osman on Wednesday handed over handrubs to the members of parliament with an aim to protect them from the deadly coronavirus during the upcoming budget session of the Jatiya Sangsad.

Whip of JS Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan received the handrubs gifts on behalf of the MPs at a simple ceremony held at the DRICM Auditorium of BCSIR.

Designated Reference Institute for Chemical Measurements of Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research prepared the handrubs. The BCSIR distributed handrub to people free of cost.

Senior secretary of the ministry Anwar Hossain, chairman of BCSIR Farooq Ahmed and director of DRICM Mala Khan were also present.

The DRICM has taken the initiative to prepare handrub sanitiser- Be Clean- formula recommended by the World Health Organization.

At the initial stage, six hospitals- Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital and Shishu Hospital – have been using handrub.

The BCSIR supplies sanitiser also to different ministries, departments, agencies, Bangladesh Army, Navy, city corporations, Rooppur Nuclear Power Project, Bangladesh Police and various individuals.
