Pran collects mung bean from farmers

Pran, country’s leading business conglomerate, is collecting mung bean from its contractual farmers of different district directly maintaining necessary safety amid coronavirus outbreak.   

This year, Pran is collecting mung bean from Natore, Bhola, Patuakhali and Barguna for preparing Pran fried mung dal, Pran mung dal, dal mix and Pran Haleem Mix, said a press release.

The company sets target to collect 5 thousands metric tonnes mung dal this season. The collection has started from May and will continue till first week of July. 

Mahatab Uddin, chief operating officer at Pran Agro Business Ltd, said, ‘Our contractual farmers have cultivated mung bean on more than 4300 acres of land this year. We are collecting the mung bean at the rate between Tk 60 to Tk 70 per kg. Now Pran has four thousands contractual farmers to produce mung bean.’

‘February to March is the proper time to cultivate mung bean. After collecting it, we process the mung bean at our Natore and Narsingdi’s Ghorashal factories,’ said Kamruzzaman Kamal, marketing director at Pran-RFL Group.
