The Border Guard Bangladesh seized narcotics, arms and other smuggled goods worth Taka 22.69crore from different parts of the country, including the border areas, in the month of May.
The seized drugs include 4,47,867 yaba tablets, 33,933 bottles of phensedyl, 1,646 bottles of foreign liquor, 442 cans of beer, 1,287 kilograms of hemp, 1 kg 383 grams of heroin, 3,067 injections, 3,633 Senegra tablets and 57,930 other tablets, according to a BGB press release.
The seized smuggled items include 5,520 cosmetics items, 700 pieces imitation jewellery, 74 sarees, 130 readymade garments, 42 meter clothes, 24 three pieces along with shirt pieces, 266 cubic feet wood, 175 kg of tea, 6,000 kg coal, 4 private cars, 3 pickups, 2 trucks, 12 CNGs or auto-rickshaws and 70 motorcycles.
They recovered arms include two pistols, one pipe gun and 3 rounds of bullets. Legal actions were taken against 261 smugglers for their involvement in illegal activities, the release added.
Besides, 21 Bangladeshi nationals and an Indian national were nabbed for crossing the border illegally.
