The police investigators said Sunday that they were yet to receive a formal statement from the immigration authorities over the reported departure of Sikder Group managing director Ron Haque Sikder and his brother Dipu Haque Sikder.
The two brothers flew to Bangkok on a private jet on May 25, a week after they were accused of assaulting two officers of Export-Import Bank of Bangladesh Limited in a case.
The EXIM Bank authorities filed the case accusing the brothers of ‘attempt to murder, abduction’ and intimidating two of its top officers over the sanction of a loan of Tk 500 crore.
The lawyer of the family denied the allegations.
Gulshan police station inspector (investigation) Aminul Islam, also the case investigation officer, told New Age that they sought information from the immigration department of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport over their reported departure.
‘We are yet to receive any information in black and white but we have come to know about their departure from other sources’ said Aminul.
He said they have visited their house in Banani a couple of times and their whereabouts could not be confirmed.
Sikder Group owns R&R Aviation, which has one Hawker 800A for the overseas charter flight often used for a medical emergency.
The HSIA director AHM Touhid-ul Ahsan told New Age that their flight took off with two passengers at 9:11pm on May 25 on emergency medical purposes. Immigration police special police superintendent Shahriar Alam said they came to know about the case from media after May 25.
