Former secretary M Bazlul Karim Chowdhury died of COVID-19 at a hospital in the capital on Sunday.
He was 61.
Bangladesh Administrative Service Association president and senior secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed said that that the former secretary died of coronavirus at Mugda hospital in the city at about 11:30am.
He told New Age that Bazlul Karim was under treatment at the hospital for last 15 days.
The association expressed condolence over the death of the retired secretary.
Bazlul held different positions including deputy commissioner of Tangail, divisional commissioner of Dhaka and chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha.
Born in Rajbari district, Bazlul was an admin cadre official of 1985 batch of Bangladesh Civil Service.
