Apex group chair, his wife test positive for COVID-19

Apex group chairman and former advisor to caretaker government Syed Manzur Elahi and his wife and Sunbeams School head Niloufer Manzur tested positive for COVID-19.

Syed Manzur Elahi is taking treatment at home and Niloufer is undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka, the family said.

Manzur Elahi, 78, is the chairman of conglomerate Apex Group and a former adviser to caretaker governments in 1996 and 2001. He also is the chairperson of East West University’s board of trustee.

Manzur Elahi is former head of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Bangladesh Employers Association.

Niloufer established Sunbeams, an English-medium institution, in 1974. She is also involved with a social marketing company.
