S Alam Group director Morshedul Alam dies of COVID-19

S Alam Group director Morshedul Alam died on Friday night at Chattogram General Hospital where he was undergoing treatment after being infected with coronavirus along with his five family members.

Morshedul Alam was also a director of NRB Global Bank. He was 65.

Chattogram civil surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said that he died of COVID-19 at about 11:30pm on Friday at the isolation ward of the hospital.

He was buried at the family graveyard at Putiya last night following the guidelines.

S Alam Group is one of the leading conglomerates in Bangladesh.

On May 17, S Alam Group’s vice-chairman and Al-Arafah Islami Bank chairman Abdus Samad, NRB Global Bank director Morshedul Alam, and S Alam Group directors Rashedul Alam, Shahidul Alam and Osman Ghani were tested COVID-19 positive.

Information minister and also member of the parliament Chattogram-17, Hasan Mahmud expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Morshedul Alam.
