Panchagarh experienced a bumper yield of nut on 11,795 hectare of lands in five upazilas this year.
Among those— in Tetulia upazila 185 hectare of lands, Panchagarh 2,400, Atoari upazila 160, Boda upazila 4,500 and in Debiganj upazila 4,500 hectares of lands were used. The expected yield of nut this year was 26,328 tonnes, said Md Abu Hanif, deputy director of the district’s Department of Agricultural Extension.
Local farmers also expressed their optimism over selling per maund nut at Tk 8,000 against their cost of Tk 6,000 per bigha.
