Advocate Zahirul Islam, a close associate of Bangladesh’s founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and former member of Gana Parishad, the Constituent Assembly of Bangladesh, died on Monday.
Advocate Islam, an ex-general secretary of Cox’s Bazar district Awami League and former president of Cox’s Bazar District Bar Association, died of old-age complications at his Chattogram city residence this noon at the age of 80.
He left behind wife, three sons and three daughters to mourn his death.
Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader expressed deep shock at the death of Zahirul Islam.
He also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.
