Noted journalist, poet and writer Fakhre Alam passed away at his Chansra residence in Jashore town at about 9:00am on Thursday at the age of 59.
Fellow journalists and family members said Fakhre Alam had been suffering from cancer for a long time.
He left behind his elderly mother, wife, one son, one daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
He was born on June 21 in 1961 at Chansra in Jashore town.
Journalist Fakhre Alam started journalism at the Weekly Robbar in 1985 and served for daily Ajker Kagoj, Manabjamin, Janakantho, Jaijaidin, Bhorer Kagoj, Banglabazar and Kaler Kantho as Jashore correspondent, regional correspondent and special correspondent.
He was awarded with Monajat Uddin Smriti Purashkar, Bazlur Rahman Smriti Padak, FPAB, TIB and many other awards.
He wrote a total of 34 books including Reporterer Diary, Hater Muthoy Sanbadikata and Jashorer Ganahatta.
