New Age inadvertently published a wrong report on May 11, 2020, saying that the BSMMU vice-chancellor, Kanak Kanti Barua, tested positive for COVID-19. In fact, instead of calling the BSMMU VC, the reporter concerned mistakenly called his private secretary, Aminul Islam, who had tested positive for COVID-19. New Age, however, realised the mistake in a couple of hours and immediately removed the report from its online version. The newspaper sincerely regrets the mistake.
