Spice traders on Wednesday agreed to set the wholesale price of spices until the Eid-ul-Fitr in order to keep the prices stable on the country’s kitchen market.
They came to the agreement at a meeting with additional commerce secretary Obaidul Azam held at the ministry.
The Bangladesh Spice Traders Association said in a press release that they would set the wholesale prices of cumin, cinnamon, clove, cardamom and black pepper.
According to the decision, the association will set the price of Indiangrown cumin at Tk 300-340 per kilogramme, Chinese cinnamon at Tk 310-330 a kg, Vietnamese cinnamon at Tk 350-370 a kg, clove at Tk 680-720 per kg and cardamom at Tk 2,800-3,200 a kg.
White pepper will be sold on the wholesale market at Tk 550-580 per kg and black pepper at Tk 360-Tk 380 per kg, said the release signed by association president Md Enayetullah and secretary general Md Atiqul Haque.
Top spice traders were present at the meeting.
