The International Cricket Council on Tuesday postponed the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2020, which was scheduled to start next month in Sri Lanka, due to the ongoing global COVID-19 crisis. A total of ten teams, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Thailand and the United States, were set to play in the tournament from July 3-19. The top three teams of the competition would have qualified for next year’s ICC Women’s World Cup in New Zealand, but due to the pandemic the ICC indefinitely deferred the tournament and vowed to reschedule it at a more appropriate window later. — New Age
