ACC sues 2 UP members for rice theft

The Anti-Corruption Commission on Sunday filed three cases against two union parishad members and a UP secretary on charges of their alleged involvement in rice misappropriation form the social safety net programme.

The commission officials filed two cases with its Faridpur integrated district office and another with Tangail integrated district office, said ACC director for public relations Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.

He said that the commission deputy assistant director Raju M Sarwar filed a case against Tangail district’s Jadabpur UP member M Minhaj Uddin under Sakhipur upazila of the district.

According to ACC findings, Minhaj misappropriated about 510 kilograms rice allocated for selling to poor people at Tk 10 per Kg since 2016.

ACC assistant director M Abu Sayed filed a case with Faridpur district integrated office against Shariatpur district’s Arshinagar UP secretary M Samsudoha under Bhedarganj upazila on charge of stealing 1050 kg rice form VGF programme.

The commission DAD Sourav Das filed a case with Faridpur district integrated office against Madaripur district’s Bashkandi UP member Ismail Fakir under Shibchar upazila on charge of his alleged involvement in stealing 10,260 kg rice from a social safety net since 2017.
