He complained of suffering from asthma and respiratory problem on Monday and his samples were sent for COVID-19 tests.

The jailor said that the inmate had been in the Panchagarh district jail since March 3.

Four others inmates of the jail are quarantined because of their close contact with the infected inmate, he said.

There are 228 prisoners in the jail. Earlier, a 60-year old convicted prisoner and 22 guards of the Dhaka Cental Jail, and a physician of Brahmanbaria District Jail were infected with coronavirus.
