Bangladesh football team captain Jamal Bhuiyan, footballers from few other South Asian countries and a FIFA referee came on a social media platform on Thursday to discuss the coronavirus pandemic and life beyond. Bhutan captain Karma Shedrup Tshring, Maldives captain Akram Abdul Ghanee, India’s central defender Sandesh Jhingan, Pakistan goalkeeper Yousuf Butt and Sri Lankan FIFA referee Nlovon Robesh were the other participants in the joint discussion. The programme was titled -- SAFF During COVID-19 & beyond. In the programme, the participants discussed how the things were going on in their respective countries during the pandemic and requested everyone to face it in a collective way. ‘We are facing a difficult time at the moment,’ Jamal, who is currently in Denmark, said. ‘We can’t play football. Since there is no football…I’m currently living with my family. It’s different than Bangladesh…Hope it will be better next month,’ he said. — New Age
