At least 211 people were killed and 227 injured in 201 road accidents in April during the ongoing public holiday when movement of public transport was banned.
Most of these accidents involved goods-laden vehicles and some public transports running illegally on roads defying the government ban, according to a report published by Passenger Welfare Association of Bangladesh on Sunday.
During the time, eight people were killed, two were injured and two were missing in eight waterways accidents, the report also shows.
The report was prepared based on news published on national daily newspapers, said a press release issued by the association.
At least 22 were women and 18 were children among the fatal victims.
