Thousands of ready made garment workers entered Dhaka through the Shimulia-Kathalbari river route on Tuesday.
At least 3,000 RMG reached in Shimulia Ghat around 10:00am. They headed for their workplace in Dhaka riding CNG-run auto-rickshaw or rickshaw. A good number of the workers started their journey by foot.
Md Sirajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Mawa river post, said that at least 1,000 passengers, most them were RMG workers, reached at Shimulia Ghat on two ferries at around 10:00am. Those ferries carried around 3000 passengers without any vehicles.
Md Shafiqul Islam, assistant manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation, said that most of the RMG workers came to Shimulia Ghat on trawler.
