Farmers of Gaibandha were very happy with their vegetable harvest this year but the coronavirus crisis destroyed their hope as they were forced to sell their products at a price much lower than production costs.

One of the distressed farmers of Muktinagar in Saghata of Gaibandha Amir Hossain shared his agonies with mass media saying that he had to sell tomatoes at Tk 2 a kg.

Noticing the video message, retail chain shop Shwapno contacted him and brought his tomatoes at a fair price, said a release.

Shwapno executive director Sabbir Hasan Nasir said that they would continue to help farmers in time of need.
