The Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday lauded the government’s announcement of stimulus packages worth Tk 72,750 crore to overcome the impact of coronavirus outbreak on the country's economy.
The chamber in a statement said that the initiative of the government was timely and the fund would give a momentum to the economic activities in the country.
‘We believe this package will be instrumental in supporting the businesses across the spectrum under current circumstances and help the economy to rebound as situation improves in the future,’ it said.
With the pledge to preserve employment of workers of FICCI companies, members are spending an approximate amount of Tk 100 crore to support employees, partners, communities and development agencies at various levels to overcome the COVID-19 crisis, it said.
Multinational companies have been integral part of Bangladesh’s growth journey in the last 50 years and consider themselves to be the development partners contributing significantly to economic, social and capability-led development of Bangladesh, it observed.
Working together with the government and different stakeholders of the country, the pandemic crisis will be overcome, the FICCI said.
