Different left and democratic parties in separate statements on Sunday expressed their dissatisfaction over the prime minister’s ‘stimulus package’ as it did not mention any specific allocation for non-formal workers and farmers.

Left Democratic Alliance said that the PM’s package did not allocate anything for food and cash support for the non-formal sector workers and farmers.

The statement said that the PM’s address reflected the government’s ‘self-satisfaction’ while there were inadequate coronavirus tests and demanded to conduct maximum tests.

Communist Party of Bangladesh and Socialist Party of Bangladesh, in separate statements, echoed the same.

Ganosamhati Andolan demanded ‘special food budget’, effective relief distribution system, gruel-kitchen at localities, and risk allowance and life insurance for doctors.

Bangladesh NAP chairman Jebel Rahman Ghaani and secretary general M Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan also urged the government to directly provide production costs to the farmers.
