The Bangladesh Bank on Thursday extended the bank transaction hours to three hours during the government-announced general holidays.

Previously, the country’s banks offered services for two hours during the holidays.

The central bank revised the bank transaction hours and the office hours as the government extended the holidays by another week to contain the spread of coronavirus epidemic.

As per the revised schedule of bank transaction hours, the banks’ customers would be able to get services from 10:00am to 1:00pm during the holidays.

Accordingly, the office hours for the banks employees were extended to 3:00pm during the general holidays.

From March 5 to March 9, the banks’ customers would get cash deposit and withdrawal, demand draft and pay order, treasury payments along with the services enabled by the payments systems and clearing systems.

To facilitate the inter-bank cheque- and online-based transactions, the BB would also keep its Bangladesh Automated Clearing House open on a limited scale during the holidays.
