Today is the 4th death anniversary of late film and television actress Parveen Sultana Diti.
Diti was born on March 31, 1965 in Sonargaon of Narayanganj. She completed higher secondary education from Eden Mohila College and received her bachelor’s from Lalmatia Women College. Parveen Sultana Diti began her career as a singer. She sung for Bangladesh Television and later acted in the TV drama ‘Laili Majnu’ opposite of actor Manas Bandopadhyay. She made her silver screen debut after participating in the talent hunt contest ‘Notun Mukher Sondhane’.
Her first released film was ‘Ami-e Ostad’. It was directed by Ajmal Huda. She has acted in more than 200 films during her career.
Besides, she has acted in films namely ‘Parbat’, ‘Swami Stree’, ‘Dui Jibon’, ‘Bhai Bondhu’, ‘Kathin Protishodh’, ‘Sneher Pratidan’, ‘Ajker Hangama’, ‘Kalia’, ‘Usila’, ‘Charam Aghat’, ‘Mukti’, ‘Char Satiner Ghar’, ‘Lady Inspector’, ‘Shesh Upahar’, Hira Moti’, ‘Khuner Badla’, ‘Megher Koley Rod’ and others. Diti received the National Film Award as best actress in a supporting role category in 1986 for the film ‘Swami Stree’, where she acted opposite actor Alamgir.
She married actor Sohel Chowdhury in 1986. Chowdhury was also a winner of the competition ‘Notun Mukher Sondhane’. Together they had a daughter, Lamia Chowdhury and a son, Shafayet Chowdhury Dipto. Later Diti married actor Ilias Kanchan which ended up in divorce as well. She died on March 20, 2016 in the United Hospital in Dhaka at the age of 50.
