Keramotiya School emerge champs

Keramotiya High School of Rangpur clinched title of the Bangabandhu National School Hockey Tournament when they beat Armanitola Govt High School of Dhaka by 2-0 goals in the final at the Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium on Sunday.

Mohammad Bishal and Rezaul Islam netted one field goal each for the winners in the third and 54th minutes of the match.

Armanitola keeper Suraj Daswas was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament while Keramotiya School’s Muhtasin Mahmud was named as the Best Goalkeeper of the competition.

Rajshahi’s Shaheed Mamun Mahmud Police Lines School’s Jahid Hossen finished as the top scorer of the tournament with eight goals.

Earlier, Keramotiya School beat Dinajpur Government Jubilee High School by 2-0 goals in the first semi-final while Armanitola School beat Shaheed Mamun School by 1-0 goal in the other semi-final.

Education minister Dipu Moni watched the final as the chief guest and distributed the prizes among the winners.

State minister for youth and sports Zahid Ahsan Russell, Bangladesh Hockey Federation president Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat were also present on the occasion

A total of 80 schools, split into nine zones, took part in the preliminary round of the meet before 18 schools qualified for the national phase final round from where six teams moved into the second round of the national phase.
