The 44th death anniversary of poet Jasimuddin, popularly known as Palli Kabi (The Rural Bard) for his poems depicting the people and rustic life, was observed in Faridpur in a befitting manner on Saturday.
Faridpur district administration arranged different programmes including placing of floral wreaths at the graveyard of the poet, discussion, recitation and doa mahfil at the poet’s ancestral home in Gobindapur village located in the outskirts of the district town.
Jasimuddin died on March 13, 1976 in Dhaka. He was buried in Gobindapur village.
Deputy commissioner Atul Sarker spoke at the discussion meeting as chief guest with additional deputy commissioner Roksana Rahman in the chair.
Police super Alimuzzaman, additional district magistrate Dipok Kumar Roy, additional police super Jamal Pasha, Professor MA Samad, Professor Mohammad Shahjahan and others participated in the discussion.
