Sushasoner Jonno Nagorik popularly known as Sujan said in a statement on Saturday that all the decisions made by the trial courts became questionable after the recent transfer of Pirojpur district and session judge Abdul Mannan to the law ministry after he had refused bails to former ruling Awami League MP AKMA Awal and his wife in three corruption cases.

On March 3, the district judge Mannan was transferred and attached to the law ministry and four hours later  joint district and sessions judge Nahid Nasrin, was made the acting district and sessions judge and she immediately granted bails to Awal and his wife.

The statement signed by Sujan’s president M Hafizuddin Khan and  secretary Badiul Alam Majumder  also expressed concern over the incident saying that ‘This incident amounted to a naked political interference in the judiciary by the government.’

In the statement Sujan said that such behaviour by law, justice and parliamentary affairs’ ministry tantamount to its distrust on the judiciary.

Sujan said that the nation’s expectations about separation of the judiciary as directed by the Appellate Division in its  12 directives in the Masder Hossain case had been completely dashed.
