Expatriate journalist-teacher Anis Ahmed’s collection of essays named ‘Durer Janala Kachher Manush’ was launched at a programme held at Biswa Sahitya Kendra in Banglamotor on Friday.
The book, which was published by Swadesh Shoili in January of this year, contains eleven essays namely ‘7ei Marcher Bhason: Ekti Bhasatattik Bisleshan’, ‘Ekoi Brintey Duti Phul: Rabindra-Nazrul’, ‘Bangla Bhasar Pratyahik Prayag: Muldharab Theke Lokkhoniyo Bichchuti’, ‘Kaler Kobi, Kaluttirna Kobi: Shamsur Rahman’ and others.
Journalist Abed Khan, chairman of University Grants Commission Professor Abdul Mannan, economist Selim Jahan, economist Nazneen Ahmed and professor of Jagannath University Ahmed Reza attended the programme.
‘In “Durer Janala Kachher Manush”, Anis Ahmed has focused on language and literature, social issues and politics. It is a good read,’ said Selim Jahan.
‘Ahmed has effectively used data to support his arguments. His book offers readers knowledge about language and literature, social issues, politics and others,’ said Abed Khan.
‘I have published seven collections of poems till date. This is my first book of essays. I hope readers will enjoy it,’ said Anis Ahmed.
The book launch programme also featured solo recitations by artistes Utpal Bhattacharya, Ratna Sen and others.
