Over four hundred local poets and 60 Indian poets are participating in the 5th Bangla Kabita Utsab under way in Shaheed Smriti Pauro Udyan in Tangail.
The festival has been organised by the public library of Tangail marking the centennial birth anniversary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Tangail Zila Parishad chairman Fazlur Rahman Khan Faruk inaugurated the festival on Tuesday.
State minister for cultural affairs KM Khalid was present as chief guest at the programme. Director general of Bangla Academy Habibullah Siraji, additional police super Shafiqul Islam, Indian poet Amrit Maity and others attended the ceremony as special guests. The programme was presided over by Tangail deputy commissioner Shahidul Islam.
Guests paid tribute to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing floral wreath on his mural.
The Bangla Kabita Utsab will end today.
