Electoral symbols were allotted to four candidates to contest the upcoming Gaibandha-3 by polls (Sadullapur-Palashbari) on Sunday.
District election officer and also returning officer Mahbubur Rahman formally distributed the symbols to the candidates or their authorised persons at his office in Gaibandha.
Awami League nominee Umme Kulsum Smriti got ‘boat’, Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s Moynul Hasan Sadik got ‘sheaf of paddy’, Jatiya Party’s Mainur Rabbi Chowdhury receives ‘plough,’ and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal’s SM Khademul Islam Khudi got ‘torch’.
The constituency fell vacant due to sudden death of ruling party lawmaker Younus Ali Sarker on December 27, 2019.
Later the election commission declared the schedule of Gaibandha-3 by polls to be held on March 21.
A total of 4,11,854 registered voters would exercise their franchise in the polls.
