‘Bibhajon’, ‘Mohajoner Nao’ staged at Shilpakala

Habiganj-based theatre troupe Jiban Sankat and Subachan Natya Sangsad staged ‘Bibhajon’ and ‘Mohajoner Nao’ at different venues of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Thursday.

The plays were staged on the 16th day of 18-day National Theatre Festival 2020, which has been organised by Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation in collaboration with the cultural affairs ministry and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

‘Bibhajon’ is written by Ruma Modok and directed by Sudip Chakraborty.

The play portrays the partition of India in 1947 and how it impacted people’s lives.

Ajharul Islam Chaudhury Murad, Majaharul Islam Pavel, Nusrat Jahan Jisa, Jinat Jahan Nisa, Imtieaz Chaudhury, Tuhin, Sujon and others acted in the play.

Theatre troupe Subachan Natya Sangsad staged its musical play ‘Mohajoner Nao’ at Experimental Theatre Hall. It is written by Shakoor Majid and revolves around the life and works of late folk bard Shah Abdul Karim.

Amirul Islam Babul, Ahammed Gias, Imtiaz Reza, Imran Hossain, Fazlul Huq, Roksana Tuli and others acted in the play.

Besides, Drishyapat staged its play ‘Socrates-er-Jobanbondi’ at Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Bangladesh Mahila Samity and Theatre (Topkhana) staged a play at the Open Stage of Suhrawardy Udyan as part of the festival.

The National Theatre Festival 2020 is featuring performances by over 400 troupes across the country. The festival will end today.
