Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has asked the chartered accountants to make effective contributions to the country’s development.

He made the call while speaking to the professionals at a programme titled ‘Listen to the Leader’ organised by the Institute of Chartered accountants of Bangladesh at the CA Bhaban in the capital on Monday.

Kamal said that the government had a clear vision on how it wanted to make the country poverty and hungerfree by 2030 and turn it into a developed nation by 2041.

The chartered accountants are an integral part of this development route and the way the economy is moving forward, he said.

He urged for impactful contributions from professionals like the chartered accountants in the progression of the country.

Kamal also asked the CAs to pursue the best practices and uphold idealism to attain the points of the Sustainable Development Goals.

He said that the government was working to ensure inclusive growth in the country so that there would be equitable distribution of wealth.

‘We are working for the people, especially those who are underprivileged, and are trying to make them part of the development process so that they can chase their dreams on how to become free from poverty and hunger,’ he said.

He also urged everyone to come forward and work for the people, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, ICAB president Muhammad Farooq said that ICAB and its members were firmly committed to become a partner of the government’s initiatives for the economic development of the country.
