Body formed to probe Islamic University BCL factional clash

The authorities of Islamic University on Monday formed a three-member probe body to look into Saturday’s clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League on the campus in Kushtia.

Professor Rabiul Islam Onu of Bangla department, also the provost of Sheikh Russel Hall, would act as the head of the body, IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif said.

The other members of the probe body are - Associate Professor Mahbub Bin Shahjahan of law department and assistant proctor Ariful Islam.

The body was asked to submit its report within seven working days, he added.

IU vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari told New Age that legal action would be taken against the accused after getting report from the body.

At least six activists of the ruling party’s student wing were injured as its two factions clashed on the IU campus on Saturday night.
