More than two hundred officials of the Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday demonstrated against BB deputy governor Ahmed Jamal, claiming that Jamal misbehaved with leaders of two bodies of the central bank’s employees.
The demonstration organised by Bangladesh Bank Officers’ Welfare Council, Dhaka and Bangladesh Bank Officers Association, Dhaka on the BB headquarters premises lasted for an hour starting at around 9:30am on the day.
The two organisations jointly issued a memorandum to BB governor Fazle Kabir on Tuesday, stating that the leaders of the Bangladesh Bank Officers’ Welfare Council, Dhaka and Bangladesh Bank Officers Association, Dhaka on Monday went to meet Jamal to submit a charter of demand.
Jamal, however, denied meeting them and behaved rudely in an unofficial manner, the memorandum mentioned.
The memorandum also demanded Jamal’s removal from the charge of BB’s human resource department along with measures against him for such misbehaviour with the employees’ representatives.
BB officials said that the promotion of seven officials to executive director, around 50 to general manager, 150 to deputy general manager and around 180 to joint director along with increasing the house loan facility for the officers to Tk 1.5 crore from the existing Tk 90 lakh were among the other demands.
