Three people were found dead from separate water bodies in Sunamganj, Habiganj and Sylhet on Sunday.
Two of the deceased were identified as Ali Ahmad, 32, son of Golap Miah, of village Ashambura of Patharia union in Sunamganj and Helal Ahmad, 24, son of late Nurul Islam, of Madhya Rajnagar of Islampur union of Companiganj. Another deceased’s identity could not be confirmed yet, police said.
Patharia union council chairman Aminur Rashid told New Age that police found the throat-slit body of Ali Ahmad under a culvert on Lalpur-Achinta road at Gourarang union in Sunamganj early morning after being informed by locals.
Sunamganj sadar police officer-in-charge Shahidur Rahman suspected that the victim’s body might have been dumped after killing him in another place. Injury marks were found in different parts of the body, he said, adding that the body was sent to Sunamganj General Hospital for post-mortem examination.
In Habiganj, police found the body of an unidentified man age around 45 years from the River Khowai at Jaynagar around 3:00pm.
The body was sent to Habiganj General Adhunik Hospital for post-mortem examination, said sadar police officer-in-charge Ziaur Rahman, adding that identity of the victim could not be known immediately.
In another incident, a team of police found the body of one Helal from the River Dhalai near Bholaganj of Companiganj in Sylhet after being informed by locals.
Companiganj police officer-in-charge Tajul Islam said Helal along with 10 other villagers went to collect stone from Sada Pathar area along the Companiganj border at night on July 13 and went missing after jumping in the river after being chased by a team of Border Guard Bangladesh.
The victim’s body was sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination, he said.
