Model-cum-actress Jannatul Ferdous Peya has been featured as the cover girl for Vogue India.
She appeared along with five other models on the cover of Vogue India’s October issue. Vogue India is one of the 23 editions of the American lifestyle and fashion magazine published monthly in different parts of the world.
Peya is the first female model of Bangladesh to land a cover for the famed magazine.
‘As far as I know, no other female model of Bangladesh has ever appeared on a Vogue cover. It’s like a dream come true, and is going to be a landmark in my modelling career,’ said a beaming Peya.
She explained how the opportunity came her way.
‘I was selected after the Vogue authorities assessed online profiles of many Bangladeshi models. Then they contacted me and I accepted their offer instantly,’ she said, adding that Vogue India’s fashion editor Anaita Shroff Adajania and photographer Bharat Sikka had conducted the photo shoot.
The photo shoot took place at the Mehbub Studio in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, Peya has recently finished shooting for two films – Chhitmahal and The Story of Samara. She made her big screen debut with the film Chorabali, which was directed by Redwan Roni.
Among other films in which she appeared is Gangster Returns.
Besides her career in entertainment, Peya is looking forward to pursuing a career as a lawyer. She is currently a student of London College of Legal Studies, and also practising law under the eminent lawyer Dr Kamal Hossain.
Recently, she got an offer to study law at the UK’s Bristol University.
