Dhaka-based theatre troupe Bangla Natyadal staged the 13th show of its play Megh at Studio Theatre hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Monday.
The play, written by Utpal Dutt and directed by H M Sohiduzzaman, talks about the pros and cons of extramarital affairs and typically portrays the age old saying ‘truth will always prevail’.
The play revolves around a fictitious writer named Samaresh Shannal, who suffers from Schizophrenia disease.
One day Shannal comes across his college sweetheart Sujata. This chance meeting rekindles his old feelings for her and soon they begin a romantic affair.
However, Sujata starts demanding money from Shannal and threatens to reveal everything to his wife.
At one point Shannal murders Sujata and removes all evidence related to the killing.
A few days later, a police officer, who is investigating the sudden disappearance of Sujata, questions Shannal, who eventually admits the murder.
Abid Ahmed, H M Shohiduzzaman, Subarna Mir, Afsana Akter Juthi, Selim Bohurupi, Liton Khan, Nasir Ahmed Durjoy and Syed Golam Mortaza enacted different roles in the play.
