A cyber court in Dhaka on Monday asked the jail authorities to provide division to former Sonagazi officer-in-charge Moazzem Hossain as per the jail code.
Judge of Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Ash-Shams Joglul Hossain passed the order.
Lawyer Faruk Ahmed filed a petition seeking division for Moazzem Hossain who was sent to jail in a case filed under Digital Security Act.
On June 17, the same court sent Moazzem to jail, rejecting his bail petition in the case filed over circulating a video on social media on Feni madrassa girl Nusrat Jahan Rafi's statement at Sonagazi Police Station.
Police arrested him from the High Court area on June 16.
Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman, a Supreme Court lawyer, filed the case against Moazzem under the Digital Security Act on May 15.
A Dhaka court issued an arrest warrant for the former Sonagazi OC in the case on May 27.
The former OC was accused of illegally interrogating Nusrat and recording the episode on his phone. The video was later circulated on the social media.
Nusrat, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrassa in Feni’s Sonagazi, was set on fire on April 6 allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case filed against the madrasa principal, Siraj Ud Doula, for sexually harassing her.
She died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 10.
Moazzem was withdrawn the same day and suspended a month later on charge of negligence of duty.
