5 killed in road accidents

Three people were killed and two others were injured after a truck hit an auto-rickshaw in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Shanta Roy Chowdhury, 30, Abu Taher, 60, and Billal Uddin, 40.
Billal died on the spot and four others were critically wounded as the two vehicles rammed into each other on Dhaka-Sylhet highway.
The injured were taken to Sadar Hospital where doctors pronounced Shanta and Taher dead, said Md Hossain Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Khatihata Highway Police.
Meanwhile, two people were killed and 10 others were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus at Dulafir Majar in Sadar upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Saturday.
Among the two deceased one was identified as driver Md Yakub, 27, son of Yusuf of Kalatoli Adarsha Uttar village in the upazila.
The accident took place when a bus collided head-on with a Hiace microbus around 4:00pm, leaving two dead and 10 others injured, said Farid Uddin, officer-in-charge of
Cox’s Bazar Model Police Station.
Police recovered the bodies and sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
