The government will soon digitise all services to the freedom fighters, such as monthly remuneration transections and distribution of certificates, through automation of concerned agencies of the liberation war affairs ministry.
LWA minister AKM Mozammel Haque on Wednesday told New Age that monthly remuneration and three bonuses would be transferred electronically to the bank accounts of freedom fighters from the next fiscal year beginning in July.
At present the freedom fighters need to withdraw their monthly remuneration and bonuses from the offices of upazila social welfare officers after getting approval from the UNOs, the ministry officials
said.
Mafizur Rahman a freedom fighter from Munshiganj, who came to the liberation war affairs ministry for a service on Wednesday, said that he received the festival bonus for the Pahela Baishakh on Monday while many other freedom fighters got last month.
Such problems will be solved after introduction of the electronic salary transection, Mozammel said.
Mozammel claimed that initiatives had been taken for providing digital identity cards and certificates soon even though the ministry was struggling to finalise the list of the freedom fighters.
The ministry missed three deadlines of publishing the final list of the freedom fighters set by the minister in the past five years and the latest deadline expired on March 26.
‘The list will also be finalised soon,’ he said.
On Wednesday morning, LWA minister also inaugurated a ‘service week’ of the ministry and its subordinating agencies for providing hustle-free services to the freedom fighters and their dependents.
The ministry also brought out a procession and held a rally marking the day.
Many freedom fighters took part in the procession that paraded the secretariat area.
Addressing the rally Mozammel said that during the week freedom fighters and their dependents would get services, such as correction of certificates and issuing recommendation letters, in the quickest possible time.
Other services provided in the ministry and its subordinate agencies such as Jatiya Muktijoddha Council and Muktijoddha Kalyan Trust would be made easy and smooth during the time, he said.
