Dhaka North City Corporation’s additional chief waste management officer (acting) SM Shafiqur Rahman was suspended on Monday for ordering staff to throw wastes on a clean road at Tejgaon on Sunday to clean it up to inaugurate a clean-up campaign.
The DNCC also removed work supervisor Md Salah Uddin, said a DNCC press release.
DNCC took the actions a day after a video clip of garbage throwing on the clean road went viral.
DNCC also formed a tree-member committee led by chief estate officer Aminul Islam to investigate into the incident and submit a report in seven working days.
The video clip shows DNCC staff throwing garbage from a waste van on a clean road moments before mayor Atiqul Islam inaugurated the clean-up campaign as part of celebrations of 99th birth anniversary of the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
