Krishok Sramik Janata League will take part in the upcoming general polls if the elections are held in a free and fair manner.
The decision was taken on Saturday at a day-long meeting of the party’s central extended committee at its central office at Motijheel in Dhaka.
At a press conference after the meeting, the party’s president Abdul Kader Siddique said that his party would take part in the next general elections if the situation was created for holding free and fair elections.
‘Our party is yet to join with any political alliance. Along with Bikalpadhara president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury and Gono Forum president Kamal Hossain, we are working for creating a national unity,’ he added.
‘Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s decision regarding taking part in the elections has nothing to do with our decision in this regard. We will participate in the next general elections,’ Kader said while replying to a question.
‘We want a free and fair environment for the polls so that voters can cast their votes in favour of their desired candidates,’ he added.
General secretary of the party Habibur RahmanTalukder gave the introductory speech at the press conference, while joint general secretary Iqbal Siddiquee and organising secretary Shahiqul Islam Delwar, were present, among others.
