An art gallery named Aman Moudud Art Gallery, named after Palli Kabi Jasimuddin’s late grandson, was launched on Wednesday through a programme at the late poet’s residence in Kamlapur.
Cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the gallery, in presence of renowned artist Monirul Islam, Aman’s father Barrister Moudud Ahmed, uncle Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Bengal Foundation chairman Abul Khair and others.
The gallery is displaying paintings created by Aman Moudud. Besides the gallery, a library named Palli Kabi Jasimuddin, Mamtaj Begum Jasimuddin Ebong Asif Moudud Bhalobasar Smritimakha Gronthagar was also inaugurated at the programme. Books collected by Palli Kabi Jasimuddin and his family members have been kept in the library.
‘I have many fond memories of this house. Palli Kabi Jasimuddin’s son Firoz Anwar was my friend and I visited this house many a time’, recalled Asaduzzaman Noor, who also proposed that the residence can be turned into Jasimuddin Academy if the poet’s family members wish.
Noor also shared that the cultural affairs ministry has founded Jasimuddin Smritikendra O Jadughar in Faridpur.
