A probe committee, formed by the Natore district administration on the August 25 deadly road crash in the district’s Lalpur upazila, has found reckless driving by both the human hauler and the bus responsible for the accident.
‘I have received report from the probe committee, led by Natore additional magistrate Md Saiduzzaman. It has also blamed owners of the two vehicles for allowing them on roads without having fitness,’ Natore deputy commissioner Shahina Khatun told New Age.
She said that the report mentioned human hauler driver’s reckless driving and trying to overtake a truck as the main reason of the deadly head-on collision that left 15 people killed and many others injured.
The deputy commissioner said that the probe committee also made a dozen of recommendations for ensuring road safety.
The recommendations include regularly checking registrations and fitness of vehicles plying the roads, conducting mobile court regularly to combat anarchy on roads, creating dumping stations for unfit vehicles at district level, capacity enhancement of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority, widening the turnings on highways, setting up traffic signals at important and turning points, she said.
