Arif to take oath as Sylhet mayor Wednesday

The newly elected Sylhet city mayor, Ariful Haque Chowdhury, will take an oath for the second consecutive time on Wednesday.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to administer the oaths to the mayors-elect of Rajshahi, Sylhet and Barisal cities in her office on Wednesday morning, while the local government and rural development minister Mosharraf Hossain will administer oaths to the councillors-elect of the cities, Sylhet City Corporation officers said.
When contacted, SCC public relations officer Shihab Uddin confirmed New Age the news and said the official letters in this regard had already issued to the elected mayors and councillors. Elections to the three cities were held on July 30.
Arif was sworn-in on July 21, 2013 as the Sylhet mayor for the first time by the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina.
