Singer-musician Kaushik Hossain Taposh and Gaanbangla TV chairman Farzana Munni received the prestigious Mother Teresa International Award for their ‘Wind of Change- Music for Peace’ campaign.
Taposh and Munni received the award on Sunday at an awards programme held at Satyajit Ray Auditorium in Kolkata which was organised marking the 108th birth anniversary of late Nobel peace prize winning Albanian-Indian Roman Catholic nun and missionary Mother Teresa.
Mother Teresa International Award Committee has been conferring the award on individuals and organisations working for promoting peace.
On Sunday, consumer affairs minister of West Bengal minister Shri Sadhan Pande handed over the award, in presence of educationist Dr Samuel Raj and Mother Teresa International Award committee chairman Anthony Arun Biswas.
Wind of Change- Music for Peace was a peace promoting campaign by Gaanbangla TV where 55 local and foreign musicians from 23 countries spoke in support of worldwide peace and the role of music in promoting peace. The campaign was part of music show Wind of Change, which was aired on Gaanbangla TV from first to fourth day of Eid-ul-Fitr in June.
Local singers like Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, Sujit Mostafa, Rafiqul Alam, Kaushik Hossain Taposh, Kiran Chandra Roy, Kangalini Sufia, Shirin, Sumon, Makhon, Sahana Bajpaie, Haider Hossain, Agun, Minar and foreign instrumentalists including Gargo Barali (Hungary), Valeri (Switzerland), Daniel (Spain), Anna Weibe (Latvia), Shivamoni (India), Mekaal Hasan (Pakistan), Senan (Turkey), Rusalana (Ukraine), Anton (Russia) and others participated at the campaign.
‘It is a great honour for us to receive the award named after Mother Teresa on her 108th birth anniversary’, Taposh wrote on his Facebook after receiving the award.
