BNP alleges its polling agents driven away at almost all polling centers

Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Monday alleged that ruling ‘Awami League’ goons drove away its polling agents from nearly all polling centers during the day’s elections in Rajshahi, Barisal and Sylhet cities  and stuffed ballot boxes in favour of Awami League mayor  candidates.

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a news briefing at the party’s central office at Nayapaltan made the allegation mentioning the incidents of driving away the party’s polling agents.

He said 24 polling agents of BNP had gone missing in Rajshahi.

Rizvi said officer-in-charge Kamal in Rajshahi city drove away BNP chairperson’s adviser Mizanur Rahman Minu from Polytechnic Institute polling center.

The OC also drove away Rajshahi district BNP president Tofazzel Hossain Tapu and city unit general secretary Shafiqul Islam Milon from the polling center, he said.

Rizvi said Awami cadres beaten BNP supporters at Dashmari in Rajshahi and drove away polling agents of shraf of paddy, BNP’s election symbol, from nearly all polling stations.

He alleged that goons were stamping in ballot papers on boat symbol at Binodpur Islamia College polling center in Rajshahi driving away BNP polling agents.

Rizvi said Krishak League president Mir Iqbal drove away all polling agents at Shah Mokhdum College polling   centre.

In Barishal,  Chhatra League and police  drove away all polling agents of sheaf of paddy from Udayan Secondary School in Barishal city, Rizvi said.

He alleged that Awami ‘goons’ confined BNP nominated mayor candidate in Barisal, Mojibar Rahman Sarwar.

In Sylhet, all agents of sheaf of paddy were driven away from MC College polling center, Rizvi said.

The BNP leader said the present Election Commission is now a ‘parasite’ and ‘opponent’ to fair poll.
