E-commerce Association Bangladesh on Saturday demanded a tax holiday for the sector for five to ten years.

The association at a news conference at National Press Club in Dhaka made the demand.

The association president Shomi Kaiser claimed that the sector enjoys tax benefit in all the countries where it is significantly growing.

She said such benefits are necessary for the growth of this sector.

The association also said they do not see any problem over brining virtual platforms like Facebook, YouTube and Google under tax network but they said the taxation should be done in clear and structured way.

The association also thanked the finance minister AMA Muhith for excluding online shopping from the purview of five percent value added tax which he had mentioned in his budget speech.
