Ctg press club attacked, four detained

A group of youths attacked Chittagong Press Club and vandalised furniture leaving four journalists injured Tuesday evening.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner (south) Kazi Mostain Billah said that some youths attacked press club and assaulted journalists.
‘We detained four people from the club premises,’ he said adding that the detained were identified as Ajay Dutta, 20, Noyon Sarkar, 21, Pial Sharma, 20, and Anubhav Mazumder, 21.
Journalists Ramen Das Gupta, Ujjal Dhar, Anurup Titu and Helal Shikder were injured in the attack, said Chittagong Press Club president Kalim Sarwar.
Witnesses said that Oikkayabadda Sonatan Somaj, a Hindu organisation, formed a human chain at Chittagong Press Club premises at about 6:00pm protesting at the recent attacks on Hindu community in Brahmanbaria.
Some journalists urged the youths, the organiser, not to block the road while the youths put a blockade in front of the club, they said.
The youths became aggressive and vandalised a private car of a television channel parked at the club.
At one stage they entered the club office, vandalised furniture and assaulted four journalists while the journalists were trying to resist them.
