A mobile court fined United Hospital Tk 20 lakh on Wednesday for using outdated reagent in the laboratory and selling outdated medicines in its medicine shop.
The hospital also buys medicines from illegal source, officials said.
The mobile court comprising an executive magistrate, officials of health ministry and drug administration and members of Rapid Action Battalion conducted the drive from morning to afternoon.
Later, executive magistrate Sarower Alam told New Age that they fined the hospital Tk 20 lakh for using outdated reagent in the laboratory, selling outdated medicines in its medicine shop and collecting medicines from illegal sources.
The hospital authorities were given 15-day time to correct these irregularities, or else, the court would write to International Organization for Standardization to strip off its certificate, Sarower said.
Earlier on February 19, another upmarket hospital, Apollo Hospitals Dhaka, was fined Tk five lakh for using outdated reagent in the lab and selling unpermitted drugs from its pharmacy.
