The death toll in the trawler capsize at Charmonai launch terminal area of Barisal rose to seven after one more body was recovered from River Kirtankhola on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Sohrab Hossain Morol, resident of Monirampur of Jessore, said Barisal river police officer-in-charge Bellal Hossain.

The police said that a trawler carrying devotees from Charbaria in Barisal Sadar upazila anchored at Charmonai launch terminal Wednesday afternoon.

The devotees, who had come to attend a three day religious mahfil at Charmonai Madrassah, were getting off the trawler when another trawler hit it from the back and it capsized.

On information, fire service and river police launched a rescue operation but could not find any of the missing devotees.

Six bodies began floating up on the river on Friday which were later recovered by the police and handed over to the madrassah mahfil committee.

The seventh body was recovered on Saturday.
